An Insider’s Guide to the Good Life
You would be hard pressed to find someone that doesn’t want to live a happy and fulfilled life.
But it seems that it’s getting harder and harder to find people who can genuinely say that they are living a happy and fulfilled life.
So what gives? If everyone wants it, why isn’t everyone working toward it? What’s holding people back from living the life of their dreams?
We could go into a wide array of pertinent topics; everything from politics to wages to pandemics to the fact that The Big Bang Theory somehow lasted for 13 seasons. But really, the secret was disclosed to us 100 and some odd years ago.
Booker T. Washington: American Educator, Orator, and Awesome Dude
Born a slave, Booker T. Washington had every opportunity to lament the fact that everything was stacked against him. But he was smart, and kept an eye out for trends. While searching for happiness he discovered something.
“The happiest people are those who do the most for others. The most miserable are those who do the least.”
His philosophy is that if you want to be happier, more fulfilled, and live the good life, then all you have to do is lift others up. Care about your fellow humans. Be a good person. Notice, he doesn’t say life will be easier, or persecution will suddenly disappear. He says that the most miserable people are the ones who dwell in their misery instead of dwelling on making others happy.
TEDxBillings Provides Resources for Helping Others
TED is all about helping people make the most of the resources that they have available. A ton of the famous TED talks are focused on how we can all do a little bit to keep the peace, build each other up, and ultimately make our world better.
TEDxBillings is no different. Our goal is to promote ideas worth sharing. Most of those ideas are the ones that will spur change and help bring us to a better world. Our past speakers were focused on this, such as William Henry and his organization Be Better World. We have the resources to be better, but we all have to do our part to ensure that the world actually gets better.
Do you have ideas worth sharing? Are you striving toward a better world?
